Strange Chemistry Launch

Hiya guys!

I would like to start off by saying a HUGE thank you to Amanda Rutter, the Strange Chemistry editor, who organised the whole event and did a brilliant job! Everyone had a great time and we all salute you!

Thanks is also due for the whole Strange Chemistry team, well done guys! I know you're going to be a great label and I wholeheartedly look forward to following your progress! :0)

Thank you to Juliet Mushens and Lee Harris for letting me use your photos too! :D

Last, but not least, I'd like to thank everyone who went last night. You were all so nice and friendly!! It was my first event of this kind and I was very well looked after lol
Right, where to begin?!! Well at the start would be best. If you haven't heard about Strange Chemistry yet, WHY NOT?! :p So in case you don't know, here's the skinny...

Strange Chemistry are a new imprint from the Angry Robot publishers. They are exclusively YA which is awesome! They are launching with five titles;
  • Blackwood by Gwenda Bond released 6th September
  • Shift by Kim Curran released 6th September
  • Poltergeeks by Sean Cummings released 4th October
  • The Assassin's Curse by Cassandra Rose Clarke released 4th October
  • Katya's World by Jonathan L. Howard released 8th November

They currently have 12 authors signed up, some of which I have interviewed here on the blog! Go and look at the Authors page to mosey through the interviews!
Beyond being strictly YA they are not genre specific, so they already have a brilliant mix of titles on their books. Some Fantasy, Horror, Sci-Fi, the lot! They are definitely ones to watch!

The Launch was held in The Great British Library, in London. It started with a drinks reception and a general mingle. With the tweeters trying to guess who the other tweeters were! lol We decided that we should have had badges with our avatars on! lol

Next it was on to the Launch itself, which was kicked of by Amanda. She spoke about where the name Strange Chemistry came from then introduced each of the launch titles.

After this we were treated to some readings. First up was Kim reading from her book Shift.

I LOVE THIS BOOK!!!!!!

It comes out on September 6th, so if you haven't read it yet make sure you go and buy it because it is AMAZING!!!

Next up was Jonathan, who read a sample from his book Katya's World. He is a terrifically expressive reader! I can't wait to start Katya's World, it's the next book in my tbr pile!
Then we had a very special treat indeed :0) It was Laura Lams turn, she read an excerpt from the beginning of her forthcoming book Pantomime. (See photo) I am soooo excited to get my hands on a copy of this book!! I cannot stress that enough! lol

After that came the goodie bags. Yes you heard me right, GOODIE BAGS!! lol They had copies of all five books for us to choose from and take home too, who doesn't love a free book?! lol

Then after some more chatting and merriment it was off to the pub, and much fun was had by all!

Amanda was kind enough to give me a goodie bag to giveaway to one of you lucky readers too!! So there will be a post in the next day or two with all the details and some photos of whats inside! So stay tuned!

See you next post!
